Tokyo Calling: House 95 x JPTRONWALKER
House 95 Guitars has completed Tokyo Calling, a one-of-one custom build created in collaboration with tattoo artist and illustrator JPTRONWALKER .
Built around House 95’s stripped-back approach, the project reflects a shared view of guitars as expressive objects rather than safe, decorative pieces .
How It Started
The collaboration began through conversations on Instagram. House 95 built the guitar and finished it in white before handing full visual control to JPTRONWALKER for the painted artwork .
Once the artwork was complete, the guitar returned to the House 95 workshop for final assembly and setup to the artist’s specifications .
It was a genuine back-and-forth process. Builder constructs the platform. Artist pushes the surface. Builder brings it back to playing condition. Nothing rushed.
The Artwork
JPTRONWALKER is known for bold, colour-heavy illustration and tattoo work influenced by anime and pop culture . His work has developed a strong online following and has crossed into music projects, including a custom bass painted for Mark Hoppus of Blink-182 .
Tokyo Calling was shaped by time he spent in Japan, moving between guitar shops and observing players approach instruments in unfamiliar ways. With photography often restricted, observation became central to the experience .
As JPTRONWALKER explains:
“I saw people doing things with guitars I never imagined. Not being able to take photos forced me to really look at what was in front of me, and that’s what stayed with me when I started painting the guitar.”
That sense of immersion carries through into the finished piece. The artwork is detailed, layered, and unapologetic. It does not sit quietly. It was never meant to.
Built to Be Played
Underneath the artwork, Tokyo Calling remains a House 95 at its core.
The build follows the brand’s functional philosophy: strong feel, solid hardware, and an instrument designed to be used, not preserved behind glass . The finish may draw attention first, but it is still a working guitar.
This is not a decorative collaboration. It is a playable instrument with a distinct visual identity.
One of One
Tokyo Calling is a one-of-one piece and is not for sale .
The project marks the beginning of an ongoing collaboration between House 95 and JPTRONWALKER, with future builds already planned .
The guitar will be on display at The Guitar Show on 28 February in Solihull, Birmingham .
For House 95, this is a natural extension of how they work. Close collaboration. Clear identity. Instruments built with intent.
